Vigil started with a simple observation from inside Canadian industry: the companies that need safety systems most — the 20-to-250-worker trucking firms, oilfield service outfits, contractors and dealerships that keep this country running — are the ones the software industry serves worst. Enterprise EHS platforms are priced and engineered for companies with safety departments. Everyone else gets binders, spreadsheets, and luck.

So we built the platform we wished existed: every module a real safety program needs, priced flat so the whole crew can use it, working offline because the field doesn't have bars, and grounded in the actual text of Canadian OHS law — Alberta, BC, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and the federal Canada Labour Code — because "best practices" don't survive an audit, citations do.

We're opinionated about how safety works. Software that lets you write "worker was careless" as a root cause and move on isn't a safety system — it's a liability generator. Vigil pushes back: on lazy root causes, on weak corrective actions, on rubber-stamped FLHAs, on training records standing in for real competency. Those opinions are in the product because they're what auditors, officers and — most importantly — crews' families expect of a program that actually protects people.
