TRIR reads as recordable injuries per 100 full-time workers per year. Owner clients commonly screen contractors between 1.0 and 2.0; above 3 usually triggers review. But two failure modes make the number lie: undercounted hours (inflates your rate) and unreported incidents (deflates it until an audit finds the WCB claims that don't match).
